UNIBEN Announces 2026/2027 Post-UTME & Direct Entry Screening Exercise
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin City, has officially announced the commencement of its Post-UTME (PUTME) and Post Direct Entry (PUDE) screening exercise for candidates seeking admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to the university management, the screening exercise will hold from Monday, 27th July 2026 to Saturday, 1st August 2026 at designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres within the Ugbowo Campus of the University of Benin.
Candidates who meet the admission requirements are advised to begin their registration early and carefully follow all instructions provided by the institution.
Eligibility Criteria for UNIBEN Post-UTME 2026/2027
To qualify for the screening exercise, candidates must satisfy the following requirements:
- Candidates must have selected the University of Benin as their first choice institution during the 2026 UTME or Direct Entry application.
- UTME candidates must score a minimum of 200 in the 2026 UTME examination.
- Applicants must possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics where applicable, in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or equivalent examinations.
- The required O’Level results must be obtained in not more than two sittings.
- Candidates are also expected to have a valid and accessible email address before commencing the application process.
UNIBEN Post-UTME Registration Period
The online application portal will open from 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 5th June 2026 and close at midnight on Friday, 3rd July 2026.
Candidates are strongly advised to complete their registration before the deadline, as late applications will not be entertained.
How to Apply for UNIBEN Post-UTME Screening
Candidates are to complete their application online by visiting the official admission portal at “https://unibenportal.com/#application”.
The application procedure is outlined below:
- Visit the application portal at “https://unibenportal.com/#application”.
- Click on the “Application” menu.
- Read the instructions under the Post-UTME Application section carefully.
- Click on the “Click/Tap Here to Proceed” button.
- At the bottom of the page, select “Begin Application Process”.
- Enter your JAMB Registration Number, JAMB score, and create a password.
- Log in using your JAMB Registration Number and password.
- Fill in the required information correctly.
- Click on “Pay with Remita” to make payment.
- Pay the screening fee of ₦2,000 only, excluding portal access charges, using an ATM-enabled card from any commercial bank in Nigeria.
- Preview and confirm all details before final submission, as corrections will not be allowed afterward.
- Print the acknowledgement slip containing your screening details after completing the application.

Important Information for Candidates
Candidates are expected to revisit the university portal from Friday, 17th July 2026 to check their specific screening date, venue, and time.
All applicants must arrive at their screening centres at least one hour before the scheduled time.
The university also emphasized that mobile phones and calculators are strictly prohibited during the screening exercise.

Candidates are expected to come along with:
- Acknowledgement Slip
- Screening Invitation Slip showing screening schedule
Application Deadline
The application portal will officially close by midnight on Friday, 3rd July 2026.
Candidates who complete payment after the deadline will not be screened by the university.
Applicants are advised to ensure that all registration procedures are completed successfully before the closing date to avoid disqualification.
