The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a temporary suspension of access to the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates’ results following the discovery of technical issues during an internal review.
In a press release issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025, WAEC revealed that the glitches were uncovered after implementing a new paper serialization system aimed at curbing examination malpractice. The innovation, which aligns with best global practices, was used in key subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. However, bugs were discovered during the post-result release review process.
As a result, WAEC has temporarily restricted access to the results on its checker portal while efforts are being made to urgently resolve the issues. Affected candidates are advised to re-check their results after 24 hours.
“The Council, being a responsive body that is sensitive to fairness and professionalism, decided to urgently review and correct the technical glitches,” the statement read.
WAEC extended sincere apologies to candidates and the public for the inconvenience and promised to rectify the issues with urgency and transparency. The council reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, excellence, and integrity in all its processes.
The statement was signed by Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Headquarters, Yaba, Lagos.
