The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of staff unions at Lagos State University (LASU), including ASUU, SSANU, NASU, and NAAT, has declared an indefinite strike action effective Thursday, 31st July, 2025.
In a notice jointly signed by union leaders, including Prof. Ibrahim A. Bakare (Chairman, ASUU-LASU), Comrade Oluwaseyi Lawal (Chairman, SSANU-LASU), and other secretaries of the unions, the strike follows a resolution reached at the Emergency Congress of the university’s staff unions.
According to the document addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the strike became necessary due to the failure of the university management and appropriate authorities to meet the demands of staff members.
The letter noted that the strike action will remain in force indefinitely until all issues raised by the unions are fully addressed.
All staff across LASU Ojo, LASUCOM, and LASU Epe campuses have been directed to withdraw their services and vacate their duty posts immediately.
The unions expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor for her support but insisted the strike will persist until their demands are met.
This development is expected to significantly disrupt academic and administrative activities at LASU.
